Russian bear attack

Russian forces launched a missile attack using Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea region, and while the Russians launched 18 cruise missiles, 15 of them were intercepted and shot down, according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. On Sunday, Russian forces launched 5 missile attacks on the cities of Kramatorsk, Kostyantinivka and Pavlograd. It also carried out 27 airstrikes and 45 multiple missile system attacks on sites belonging to Ukrainian forces. The probability of missiles and air strikes on the whole Ukrainian territory remains very high.

Ukrainian response

Russian forces continue to focus their main efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Bakhmut, Avdeev and Marin directions. During the past day, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled more than 36 Russian attacks on specific areas of the front. Bakhmut and Marinka are still at the epicenter of hostilities. On Sunday, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out 4 raids on areas where Russian military personnel are concentrated. Ukrainian defenses also shot down a Russian Orlan 10 reconnaissance aircraft, and units of the 5 missile and artillery forces hit areas where manpower was concentrated, an ammunition depot and an area where the Russian army artillery was stationed. The Ukrainian army eliminated 450 Russian army soldiers, 1 tank, 3 armored fighting vehicles, 7 artillery systems, 1 tactical operational drone, 3 vehicles and 2 units of special equipment were destroyed.

Battle of Bakhmut

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that its forces had taken control of 4 areas in western Bakhmut.

Russia’s private security group Wagner is leading the attack on Bakhmut, and the group’s leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said on Telegram that his men had advanced up to 230 meters in some directions on Sunday.

He added that pro-Kyiv units control less than 3 square kilometers.

Prigozhin, who repeatedly had disputes with the Russian Defense Ministry, repeated complaints that Moscow was not supplying his forces with enough ammunition and said that as a result Wagner suffered unnecessary heavy casualties.
