Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

May Day protests took place in many cities across Greece News

In Athens, early in the morning, demonstrations by various unions and committees of workers in the private and public sectors, organized by the Fighting Front of All Workers of Greece (PAME), began. Workers’ meetings were held in the squares of Kaningos, Omonia, near the National University of Athens and in Alexandras Avenue.

A large number of demonstrators gathered in Klatmonos Square, responding to the call of the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) and the Confederation of Public Service Trade Unions (ADEDI). Among those present were former Greek Prime Minister Yorgos Papandreou, former Finance Minister Euclidis Tsakalotos, Communist Party leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas.

In the “northern capital” of the Republic of Thessaloniki, rallies took place near the Labor Center and the Venizelos monument. Additionally, representatives of non-parliamentary left-wing and anti-authoritarian parties marched from the Arch and Galerius Tomb to the city center.

In the largest city of the island of Crete, Chania, the trade union organizations organized a demonstration in front of the monument to peace and to the workers of the Pasakaki region. The rain that had started did not prevent those gathered from celebrating May Day together.
