Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

German Chancellor Scholz promised to monitor the use of weapons supplied to Ukraine

Berlin does not intend to take unilateral steps in terms of arms supply to Ukraine for reasons of preventing an escalation between NATO and Russia. This statement was made during a meeting with German citizens by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, whose words are quoted by TASS.

He stressed that Kyiv should not use weapons received from the West to strike Russian territory.

“It is important that weapons <…> with which Ukraine can defend itself are not used to attack Russian territory”, underlined the Chancellor.

Scholz added that the German procurement authorities “only act in agreement with partners”. According to him, Berlin is doing everything “so that there is no escalation in the direction of war between Russia and NATO”.

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the country’s armed forces were indeed preparing a counter-offensive. However, he did not specify for which period it is planned.
