Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that Turkey will become the fifth country in the world to manufacture the fifth generation fighter aircraft. A news agency quoted Erdogan as saying on Monday that this warplane named Kan is one of the great achievements of the country’s defense industry. The title Kan was used by the rulers of the kingdoms of Turkey and Mongolia to convey their greatness.
According to Erdogan, Turkey will complete all the tests and the ear will be inducted into the air force within a few years. He said that the indigenous fighter aircraft will make its first flight in 2025. The President said that the Harjet, a trainer and light combat aircraft developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries, will also join the Turkish Air Force and partially replace Turkey’s F-16 fighter jets.
He said that Turkey will soon sell Hazrat’s aircraft to Niger and Chad. Erdogan said the Turkish-made Anka-3 reactive strike unmanned aerial vehicle would also make its maiden flight in the coming days.
