“This man we now have in custody,” San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Kuipers told reporters, adding that he was found hiding in a closet.
Francisco Oropesa managed to escape after shooting his neighbors in a small town of Cleveland on Friday.
The ages of his victims ranged from 9 to 31 years old.
San Jacinto County District Attorney Todd Dillon told NBC that the Oropesa, Texas, was arrested about 17 miles from Cleveland.
While authorities deployed hundreds of law enforcement officers to search for the 38-year-old, they also offered an $80,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
