On the night of May 3, two drones attempted to attack the Kremlin residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin. How informed the Kremlin press service, the drones were shot down, there were no casualties or damage. The incident was described as a terrorist attack and an attack on the head of state. Military experts told Russian media how they assessed the attempt to hit the Kremlin and how they thought the attack should be reacted to.
Captain 1st rank of the reserve, military expert Vasily Dandykin
“From the point of view of large aircraft, Moscow is closed, from the point of view of small ones – recently there was a message about a downed drone in the Moscow region, conclusions were drawn, just in case systems air defenses would be installed on the roofs.
Now it is obvious that there is a spring exacerbation. We strike, significant losses come from the other side – both ammunition and people. It is probably, according to them, the counter-offensive itself: mining of trains in the Bryansk region, terrorist attacks against the leaders of Crimea, etc.
Air defense and electronic warfare are responsible for the security of Moscow – electronic warfare, stations that “deprive the mind” of drones.
Member of the State Duma Defense Committee, Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev
“I think the Ukrainian fascists have crossed the last possible red line. I’m surprised: they crossed so many red lines, but somehow we don’t react.
Now it is absolutely necessary to prevent the flow of equipment, weapons and ammunition through western Ukraine and the airspace of Ukraine and, probably, to hit the decision-making centers, as soon as such decisions are made and strikes are made at our decision-making centers, that is, at the Kremlin.
We (the Kremlin -) have a closed area, we generally reliably protect Moscow from ballistic nuclear missiles, cruise missiles, all types of aviation – strategic, operational, tactical. The drone is relatively new, new (combat) means are needed, now they are needed like air for the defense of such objects as Moscow and other large cities, military installations.
