Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

expectations of a counter-offensive among Kiev’s allies are too overstated

Ukrainian military leaders are trying to impress upon Western countries that their expectations of Kyiv’s planned counter-offensive are too high. As Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov noted in an interview with the Washington Post, the West believes that the announced actions of the Ukrainian military on the front will turn the tide of the conflict.

“The expectations of our counter-offensive are overestimated in the world. Most people are expecting something big,” he said.

According to the Ukrainian minister, such a situation could eventually turn into “emotional disappointment”.

The article notes that officials in Kiev are worried about the consequences of a possible failure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). They think that then the West will refuse to continue providing military support.

Earlier, the leader of the “We are with Russia” movement, Vladimir Rogov, said that the Russian forces in the Zaporizhzhia region were ready for a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to him, several staggered defense lines have been erected in the area.
