Chisinau residents lay mountains of flowers at ‘Eternity’ memorial complex Fox News

Participants of memorial processions in honor of Victory Day in Chisinau laid “mountains of flowers” at the memorial complex “Eternity” – the end point of the procession of the “Immortal Regiment” in the capital of Moldova.
The procession of the “Immortal Regiment” started from the Grand National Assembly Square in the center of Chisinau and ended at the “Eternity” memorial complex. Many protesters came with St. George’s ribbons, despite authorities’ threats to impose heavy fines. There were no clashes with the police. Law enforcement accused those celebrating May 9 of provocations.

Despite the prohibitions, the ex-president of Moldova, Igor Dodon, put on the St. George ribbon during the march of the Immortal Regiment on Victory Day. “Today is Victory Day. Despite all the authorities’ attempts to intimidate the people, they marched en masse. I put on the St. George ribbon because it is a symbol of our victory. In Moldova, May 9 was, is and will be Victory Day,” RIA Novosti reports the words of Dodon.

Recall that on the eve of the celebration of Victory Day in Moldova, the police confirmed the ban on the demonstration of the St. George ribbon, as well as the V and Z symbols. Physical persons incur a fine of up to ‘up to 500 dollars, legal entities – up to $ 1,670. The decision to ban the St. George ribbon in Moldova was approved early last year.
