A magnitude 4.2 earthquake was recorded in Kamchatka

On the morning of May 10, a seismic event took place in Kamchatka. The regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 22 kilometers with a magnitude of 4.2. The epicenter of the seismic event was located 15 kilometers from the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky urban district in the Elizovsky district.

“On the territory of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky urban district, tremors with a force of up to three points were felt. There are no casualties or destruction. The threat of a tsunami has not been declared,” the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation said.

On Monday evening, tremors whose epicenter is in the Pacific Ocean were also recorded in Kamchatka. The magnitude of the earthquake was 4.4. An even stronger seismic event in Kamchatka occurred on May 1 on the Shiveluch volcano: the magnitude was 5.0.
