Xi Jinping gave important instructions on the sinking of a Chinese fishing vessel in the Central Indian Ocean

At 3 am on May 16, the Chinese ocean fishing vessel “Lu Peng Yuan Yu 028”, owned by Penglai Jinglu Fishery Company, capsized in the central part of the Indian Ocean. 39 people on board are missing. They include 17 Chinese crew members, 17 Indonesian and 5 Filipino crew members. No missing person has been found so far and search and rescue operations are on.

After the accident, Chinese President Xi Jinping gave important instructions. asked the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Traffic and Transportation, and the Shandong Province to immediately launch an emergency response mechanism. It is necessary to verify the situation, send additional rescue forces, coordinate international maritime search and rescue assistance, and make every effort to rescue. The Chinese Foreign Ministry and relevant Chinese embassies overseas have been asked to coordinate the search and rescue operations well in coordination with local relevant parties. Apart from them it is necessary to further strengthen the investigation and early warning of potential security threats in offshore operations to ensure the safety of life and property of people.
