Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Kazakhstan and China sign documents for $22 billion during Tokayev’s visit – Reuters

In the Chinese city of Xi’an, Tokayev took part in the round table on Kazakh-Chinese investment. “As part of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to China, 47 documents were signed for a total of $22 billion,” the statement said.

“A number of large Chinese-funded enterprises are successfully operating in our country. Among them are companies such as CNPC, CITIC, NFC, Sinopec, Huawei. Despite this, we still need to enhance the potential of our cooperation,” Tokayev concluded.

Central Asian heads of state arrived in China on Thursday to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The plan is to prepare the ground for the summit, which should lead to a regional pact with Beijing, the Chinese foreign ministry said.

Last year, bilateral trade between China and Central Asia hit a record $70 billion. Kazakhstan is the leader in terms of trade with China – 31 billion dollars. It is followed by Kyrgyzstan with $15.5 billion, Turkmenistan with $11.2 billion, Uzbekistan with $9.8 billion and Tajikistan with $2 billion.
