Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

the country awaits a terrible summer against the backdrop of a counter-offensive

Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UK, Vadym Prystaiko, predicted a terrible summer for Ukraine due to the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“I know summer can be very terrible and the price is terrible. We understand that it will be extremely difficult to fight a country that is 16 times bigger than us,” he said in an interview with ITV.

The diplomat noted that Western countries expect a lot from the counter-offensive, which is why the Ukrainian armed forces are under pressure.

Moreover, he did not speak about the losses in the ranks of the Ukrainian army, saying that internally Ukraine understands how many people are dead and missing. Prystaiko added that more than eight million people have left the country.

He also commented on the US decision not to transfer F-16 fighters to Kyiv, noting that Washington may change its plans as it takes a broader view of the situation.

Due to the elections in November next year, support for the Ukrainian side may weaken. Prystaiko called cyclicality one of the downsides of democracy, so Kiev should press on the issue of arms supplies.

The day before, it had been reported that the United States was preparing for a scenario of a long-term freeze in the Ukrainian conflict. It is specified that this can last several years or even decades.
