Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the China-Central Asia Summit

On May 19, the China-Central Asia Summit was held in Xi’an, capital of northwestern China’s Shaanxi province, in which Chinese President Xi Jinping, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan President Sadar Nargozovich Japarov, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan President President Sardar Berdimuhamedov, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev attended. Chinese President Xi Jinping presided over the summit and delivered a speech.

Xi Jinping said that in 2013 he visited Central Asia for the first time after assuming the office of the Chinese President and presented the initiative to co-build the “Silk Road Economic Belt”. Since then, in the past 10 years, China and Central Asian countries have joined hands to promote the overall revitalization of the Silk Road, deepen future-oriented cooperation, and usher bilateral relations into a new era.

He said that Central Asia is the center of the Eurasian continent, located at the crossroads connecting East and West, and North and South. The world needs a Central Asia of stability, prosperity, harmony and connectivity. To build a China-Central Asia community with a shared future, we must stick to four things. That is, stick to each other’s support, stick to common development, stick to common security and stick to generation-by-generation friendship.

Xi Jinping also said that the current summit has established a new platform and opened up new prospects for cooperation between China and Asian countries. China would like to take advantage of the holding of this summit and closely coordinate with various parties to help better plan, build and develop China-Central Asia cooperation. To this end, the six countries need to strengthen mechanism building, expand economic trade ties, deepen connectivity, expand energy cooperation, promote green innovation, upgrade development potential, strengthen dialogue between civilizations, and promote regional Peace should be maintained.

At the end of his speech, Xi Jinping urged the six countries to shoulder unity and make efforts, actively promote common development and common prosperity, so that the six countries can welcome a brighter future.
