Russian cardiologist Varfolomeev advised Russian citizens to drink water to avoid blood clots

Oleg Varfolomeev, a cardiologist, told the Russians that in order to avoid the formation of blood clots, one should not forget to drink water.

According to the expert, it doesn’t matter if it’s a glass of water or an ice-cold cola, the main thing is that fluid intake is part of the diet. The benefit of this method is that the liquid prevents the formation of gel-like clots.

“Drinking enough water helps maintain proper blood volume and promotes optimal circulation,” Varfolomeev said.

In addition, adequate hydration ensures the smooth flow of blood through the blood vessels, thereby reducing the likelihood of blood clots. Also, water helps to dilute the concentration of some blood components, such as fibrinogen and platelets, which are involved in the formation of blood clots.

“Adequate hydration keeps these components at optimal levels, reducing the likelihood of blood clots,” the doctor says.

Moreover, regular water intake keeps the kidneys working properly, and dehydration makes the blood thicker and more prone to blood clots. If we talk about the amount of water that should be drunk, then you need to look at your physical indicators, but in general you should drink at least two liters of water per day, writes MedikForum .
