Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Russian nuclear weapons are on their way to Belarus

Russia has moved forward with a plan to station tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, whose leader said warheads were already being delivered to bases.

Alexander Lukashenko said tactical nuclear weapons were already on the way according to a decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, although this has not been confirmed by the Kremlin.

“The nuclear weapons movement has begun. It has already started,” Lukashenka told reporters in Moscow, where he took part in talks with other leaders of former Soviet states.

Responding to the question whether the weapons are already in Belarus, he replied: “Maybe. I’ll come and see.”

Russia has a huge numerical superiority in tactical nuclear weapons over the United States and the NATO military alliance.

The United States estimates that Russia has about 2,000 operational tactical warheads.

The United States has about 200 tactical nuclear weapons, half of them at bases in Europe.
