The day provides an opportunity to recognize that land degradation neutrality can be achieved through problem-solving, strong community participation and cooperation at all levels. It was initiated by the United Nations General Assembly with its resolution A/RES/49/115. declared June 17 as World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, which was adopted in December 1994. This year’s Global Day to Combat Desertification and Drought will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, with events in all parts of the world There will be programs.

Desertification is a form of land degradation mainly in semi-arid and arid regions influenced by climate and human factors. As a country plagued by large-scale sandy desertification and frequent sandstorms and dust storms, China is trying to find ways to achieve sustainable management of desert lands. China will also participate in it like every year and present its efforts to the world. Here we review the effects of climate change and anthropogenic activities on desert areas and the efforts, results and lessons learned from desertification control in China. Although drying and warming trends and increasing population pressures exist in those areas, the increasing trend of desert lands achieved an overall reversal. Over the past six decades, several efforts have been made to control desertification in northern China, including government policies, forestry and desertification control programs combined with eco-industrial development.

Restoring wastelands provides economic resilience, creates jobs, increases incomes and increases food security. It helps in recovering biodiversity. It locks up atmospheric carbon that warms the Earth, thereby slowing climate change. It can also reduce the effects of climate change. Through its own efforts, China is continuously reducing carbon emissions, and it is expected that it will continue to do such human welfare work in the future.
