Azerbaijan captured the city of Zangilan and 24 villages in different regions Nagorno-Karabakh. President of the country Ilham Aliyev stated this, reports Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency.

“Before it’s too late, Yerevan must withdraw its troops from Azerbaijan. We will continue to drive the invaders,” he said.

According to Aliyev, six villages of Fizuli region, seven – Jebrail, five – Khojavend and six – Zangilan regions were liberated from the Armenian occupation.

He also said that during the last battles the Azerbaijani side managed to destroy 241 Armenian tanks, 39 tanks were taken as trophies, 70 Grad installations and four S-300 complexes were put out of action.

According to the newspaper, the Zangilan region, which is located in the south-west of Azerbaijan, has been under the control of Armenia since October 23, 1993.

Let’s remind, on Saturday, October 17, Armenia and Azerbaijan agree on a new humanitarian ceasefire from midnight (20:00 GMT) in hostilities for the enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh controlled by the Azerbaijani Armenians.

Earlier, Azerbaijan and Armenia accused each other of further attacks in violation of a week-long Russian-brokered ceasefire that failed to stop the worst fighting in the South Caucasus since the 1990s.

Baku stated that as a result of Armenia’s missile strike in the city of Ganja killed 13 civilians and more than 50 were injured, and Yerevan accused Azerbaijan of continuing the shelling.

The fighting is the worst in the region since Azerbaijan and the ethnic Armenian armed forces went to war in the 1990s over Nagorno-Karabakh, a territory recognized worldwide as part of Azerbaijan but inhabited and ruled by ethnic Armenians.
