President Donald Trump is scheduled to campaign in Michigan on Sunday, October 25, a day after former President Barack Obama rallied Democrats in the state, bringing the two parties’ competing midterm campaigns to the same Senate battleground.

The Associated Press reported that Trump’s visit comes as Republicans seek to win Michigan’s open Senate seat. Republican Mike Rogers faces Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in the contest.

The president’s planned appearance follows weeks of attacks on El-Sayed during campaign stops around the country, according to the AP. Sunday’s visit brings that effort directly to Michigan as both parties work to mobilize voters before the midterm election.

Obama campaigned for Democrats in Michigan and Ohio on Saturday, Reuters reported. Trump’s scheduled Michigan stop places the current and former presidents on successive days of campaigning in a state where both parties are competing for an open Senate seat.
