Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Boris Johnson in “stable condition”

London – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s health in intensive care has stabilized, government officials say. The 55-year-old also did not have to be connected to a respirator, as his spokesman said in London.

The prime minister is supplied with oxygen, but “breathes independently without any support”. Johnson also had no pneumonia, the spokesman said.

Johnson had been brought to St. Thomas’ Hospital in London on Sunday for long-term corona complaints. Downing Street hadn’t said it was an emergency room. In the course of the examinations, however, his health deteriorated to such an extent that he had to be transferred to the intensive care unit.

The Prime Minister announced on March 27 that he had contracted the novel virus. Initially, he worked in self-isolation at his government seat in Downing Street, but appeared to be clearly chipped on videos. Johnson hired Secretary of State Dominic Raab (46) to represent him. Raab’s first appearance in the new role was on Tuesday to lead the daily corona video conference with cabinet members.

Politicians from all over the world wished Johnson a speedy recovery, many on Tuesday night. Chancellor Angela Merkel, US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, Kremlin President Vladimir Putin and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen were among them. Queen Elizabeth II also wished him a speedy recovery.

Meanwhile, Minister of State Michael Gove also had to isolate himself. A family member suffers from mild corona symptoms, Gove said in the short message service Twitter. “I have no symptoms and I continue to work normally.” Health Minister Matt Hancock and government medical advisor Chris Whitty have survived their infection.

Johnson’s pregnant fiancee Carrie Symonds also said that she spent a week in bed with symptoms of lung disease. The prime minister and Symonds announced their engagement at the end of February. The baby is said to be born in early summer.

The Queen explicitly paid tribute to healthcare workers on Tuesday for World Health Day. She thanks everyone for her “selfless commitment and hard work,” said the 93-year-old monarch. The helpfulness of countless nurses, midwives and other health workers is a role model for everyone in these challenging circumstances, she said with regard to the pandemic. The Queen and her husband Prince Philip (98) are particularly at risk due to their old age. You retired to Windsor Castle near London.

More than 6,150 people in the UK have died as a result of their coronavirus infection. However, only deaths in hospitals were taken into account. More than 213,000 people were tested for the novel pathogen; infection was found in over 55,200 of them. According to estimates, however, several hundred thousand may have been infected.
