Western intelligence agencies accuse China of destroying coronavirus data

The Daily Telegraph, an Australian publication, reported intelligence suspicions from several Western countries that the Chinese authorities had been silent and destroyed data on a new type of coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan for a long time.

The publication claims to have familiarized itself with the dossier compiled by the intelligence services of Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. The newspaper claims that according to intelligence services, the Chinese authorities silenced doctors reporting new infections, destroyed biomaterial from laboratories, and did not pass on the necessary information to specialists working on the vaccine.

In addition, according to the publication, the PRC authorities had information that the virus was transmitted from person to person in early December but officially recognized this only on January 20.

The newspaper adds that intelligence services diverged in estimates of the origin of the virus. According to The Daily Telegraph, the United States is leaning toward a version of a leak from the laboratory, and Australian intelligence believes the official version of the Chinese authorities is more reliable.

Earlier, the official representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) Fadela Shaib said that WHO in this matter “is based on scientific evidence” and believes that this “virus is of animal origin.”
