USA: Trump uses his veto against legislation restricting his ability to wage war on Iran

The US President Donald Trump on Wednesday used his veto power to thwart legislation passed by both houses of Congress and the Senate to limit the president’s ability to wage war on Iran, as Trump launches a campaign that involves exerting maximum pressure on the Islamic Republic.

“This was a very abusive decision, put forward by Democrats as part of a strategy to win the November 3 elections by dividing the Republican Party,” Trump said in a statement released by the White House.

“A few Republicans who voted for him did what they (Democrats) wanted.”
