Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Grenelle to American journalists: Do you even know where Kosovo is?

The special envoy of the President of the USA for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Richard Grenell, got angry during the press conference regarding the agreement that was signed in Washington yesterday, reproaching them for not paying enough attention to that issue.

He said that the journalists in the hall may be too young for what they are doing and that he is not sure that they would find Kosovo on the map.

Grenelle tried to underline the importance of the agreement, emphasizing the efforts made by US President Donald Trump to bring Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and the Prime Minister of self-proclaimed Kosovo Avdulah Hoti to the table.

“Maybe you are too young to understand what this issue is about. Maybe older journalists should come forward and say, ‘This is a big deal. This is a big question’, ” Grenell said, according to B92.

He also told reporters that he was not sure if they knew what was happening outside of Washington at all.

Jeff Mason, a Reuters correspondent from the White House, objected, saying that none of his colleagues came to listen to the lectures.

Grenelle replied that the Balkans may be too complicated a problem for those present and suggested that they take some time to discuss this 21-year-old issue.
