Israel closes schools again due to increase in COVID cases

The first blockade was introduced in late March

Israel closed schools again today, as the number of infected coronaviruses reached 4,500 on a daily basis.

The first blockade was introduced in late March and was eased in May when the number of those infected was reduced to 20 a day.

The Israeli leadership acknowledged that it had lifted the restrictive measures prematurely to avoid more severe economic consequences .

The new blockade will last for three weeks and takes place at the beginning of the Jewish New Year or Rosh Hashanah when there are larger family gatherings.

The Israeli leadership made the decision to close the schools the day before it was planned, and the educators immediately switched to online lectures.

Under the new regulations, Israelis must be within 500 meters of the house, with the exception of activities such as going to work, buying basic groceries, and exercising.

Companies will be able to work part-time.

The social distance and limitation of the number of believers will be in force in the synagogues that are usually full during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur on the Jewish Day of Repentance, which begins on September 27.

1,163 people have died in Israel since the beginning of the pandemic.
