In Slovenia, a case of coronavirus infection has been confirmed for the first time in a domestic animal, and it is a white ferret that its owners, infected before that, kept as a pet.

–  On Tuesday, during testing, we confirmed infection with a new coronavirus in a white skunk that had digestive difficulties. The animal comes from a household where the coronavirus infection in humans has been confirmed before.

The animal has been locked in the house with the owners all the time, and does not pose a risk of spreading the infection – said Uros, deputy director of the National Veterinary Institute. He stated that, in addition to humans, coronavirus can also infect ferrets and their relatives – hamsters, and rarely cats and dogs, Hina reported. – In domestic animals that can be infected , the disease is mild and does not represent the risk of transmission to humans – said Krapez.
