Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

WHO is working with Chinese vaccine manufacturers to approve the use

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Gebrejesus (Ghebreyesus), said that the WHO team in China is cooperating with the producers of coronavirus vaccines “Sinovac” and “Sinopharm” on potential lists for emergency use.

“I am pleased that the WHO team is in China and is currently working with vaccine manufacturers Sinovac and Sinopharm to assess compliance with international manufacturers before the WHO approves potential emergency listings,” Tedros told a news briefing, reports a Chinese news agency Xinhua .

He said the WHO continues to ask vaccine manufacturers around the world to speed up the provision of the necessary data that will allow the organization to take them into consideration for emergency use.

“While we hope for safe and effective vaccines to be introduced, we want this to be accelerated and vaccines to be distributed equally in the coming weeks,” Tedros said.
