Musicians and actresses Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez will sing at the inauguration of Joe Biden when he takes office next week. This was stated by the committee in charge of the ceremony.
In parallel with the preparations for the event, the president’s team has produced a ninety-minute television show, hosted by actor Tom Hanks, which will feature Demi Lovato, Justin Timberlake, and Jon Bon Jovi, among others.
The United States has been advised not to attend the inauguration ceremony, as thousands have traditionally done. This is both because of the coronary virus pandemic and in the wake of President Donald Trump’s supporters’ attack on Parliament last week.
Security has been tightened in the wake of the attack and it looks like more of the US National Guard will be at the port now than at the last two deployment ceremonies combined.
Trump himself will not attend the ceremony, and this is the first time a living president has ignored his successor’s inauguration ceremony in half a century. All former presidents except 96-year-old Jimmy Carter have announced their arrival, as has Mike Pence, the outgoing vice president.
