Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Russia expels 10 American diplomats in response to US sanctions

Moscow will mirror the US decision to expel ten Russian diplomats. This was announced at a press conference on Friday, April 16, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“Ten diplomats were included in the list that was given to us, asking them to leave the United States. We will answer this measure in a mirror image. We will also offer ten US diplomats in Russia to leave our country,” TASS quoted him as saying.

According to the agency, in the near future the names of eight American diplomats, whose presence on the territory of the Russian Federation is recognized as undesirable, will be published.

Today, the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the scale and nature of Moscow’s response to Washington’s anti-Russian steps will depend on Vladimir Putin. “The principle of reciprocity in such matters has not been cancelled, it is fundamental. But I will say again that everything will depend on the decision taken by the head of state, ”said Peskov.

In turn, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov invited US Ambassador John Sullivan to the conversation, with the intention of informing the American diplomat about the Russian response to the recent US sanctions.
