The President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, reports Anadolu Agency (AA) .

The Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidency announced that Erdoğan and Putin discussed a number of topics, including the current situation in war-torn Syria and Ukraine and the establishment of a safe corridor for the export of grain from the Black Sea ports.
Emphasizing that during the talks, great attention was paid to the importance of extending the cross-border mechanism in Syria, the statement states that Erdoğan said that it is time to take action regarding the United Nations plan to establish safe corridors for the export of grain from Black Sea ports.

Reiterating that the war between Ukraine and Russia should end with a lasting and just peace, through negotiations, Turkish President Erdoğan said that Turkey is ready to make every possible contribution to the revitalization of the negotiation process.
