Many Russian tourists are attracted to resorts in Morocco: where to go is difficult to choose when traveling for the first time. The country at one time had many capitals, and now all these cities, called imperial, are included in the program of fascinating guided tours – in the Morocco small group tours you can see them all. The resorts are located mostly on the ocean and Mediterranean coast. But Fez, Marrakech and other cities far from the sea beaches also have large hotels that welcome tourists all year round.

Description of Morocco

Medieval castles kasbahi – a fabulous palace of the desert, majestic mountains and sand dunes – that’s all Morocco. In this country inexpensive and warm. Here come the tourists from Russia, who want a break from their compatriots. Moroccan resorts are filled mostly with Europeans. Russians do not need a visa to this country, they just fill out a migration card upon arrival.

An interesting feature of all Moroccan cities is the huge number of cats, it is believed that these animals bring happiness to the house. Dogs among Muslims are unclean animals, they are not respected here. There are many fascinating excursions for tourists in Morocco:

  • a trip to the Sahara;
  • a trip to the mountains ;
  • imperial cities – the former capitals of the kingdom;
  • national parks;
  • ancient citadel fortresses, etc.

Morocco has a rich history surrounded by tales and myths. One of the legendary figures was Sultan Mullah Ismail, whose palace can be seen in Meknes. He ruled the country for 55 years and was noted for his extraordinary physical strength. He had 888 sons and countless daughters and 500 concubines in his harem.

Fez

The city of Fez is the second largest settlement after Casablanca. It has the largest medina in the world. In order not to get lost in the streets of the old city, it is advisable to hire a guide. Since there are more than 9.4 thousand streets, nooks, crannies and crossroads, you can’t do without a guide. You can stay in one of the chain hotels or riads.

Sightseeing

The medina of Fez is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is not accessible by car, only on donkeys, bicycles or small scooters. It is surrounded by 14 gates.

The Andalusian part of the old city was founded by the Arabs, who lived in the south of Spain. The houses here do not have balconies facing the street, they all face the courtyard. By this attribute you can unmistakably distinguish the Arab neighborhoods from the Jewish ones.

In the old town there is a tannery that has been in operation for several hundred years. It now supplies leather goods to the whole country and to the visiting tourists. In the local workshop there are over two hundred people, you can order clothes made of leather, shoes or a bag, and get a finished thing in a few hours.

Another attraction is the current royal palace in Fez. But tourists can only see the walls and gates of the building, entry is prohibited. Seven doors lead to the palace – it’s a lucky number for Muslims, each of them is made of bronze, the walls are decorated with ceramics.

Marrakech

This city was the capital of Morocco in ancient times and now attracts tourists with its comfortable hotels, unique architecture and oriental bazaar. The lack of the ocean and the sea is compensated by beautiful swimming pools and water parks.

Attractions

The main square of the city is called Jemaa el-Fna. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening there starts a culinary show where you can taste the national cuisine and many exotic dishes. Dancers, acrobats, magicians, fakirs and snake charmer perform to entertain locals and tourists alike.

The Majorelle Garden, over which the ashes of the famous couturier Yves Saint Laurent were scattered, attracts crowds of tourists and there is always a queue at its gates. Not far from the garden there is a museum dedicated to the work of couturiers.

In Marrakech, you should also visit the Dar Si Museum and the Menard Gardens. Look at the beautiful ancient mosques can only be outside, to go inside only Muslims are allowed. Lovers of outdoor activities can learn to play golf and visit a water park. The city has nightclubs and casinos.
