The Kremlin declares popular rapper Oxxxymiron in Russia a foreign agent

The Russian Ministry of Justice has declared one of the country’s most popular rappers a foreign agent. It is a legal label used against critics of the Kremlin, especially those who oppose the war in Ukraine .

Oxxxymiron , whose real name is Miron Yanovich Fyodorov , was added to the updated list of foreign agents along with four journalists and Dmitry Glukhovsky, a prominent writer.

Oxxxymiron canceled a Russian tour in protest against the war before touring Turkey, Britain, and Germany, calling his concerts “Russians against the war”.

In late August, authorities said they were investigating his work under the country’s counter-extremism laws. His lyrics are often political and he has attended rallies in support of Alexei Navalny, a now-imprisoned critic of Putin.
