The United States on Thursday imposed new sanctions on Russian private military company Wagner , which US officials say is helping the Russian military wage a war of aggression against Ukraine .The Treasury said it had included the Wagner PMC in the list of “large transnational criminal organizations”. BARL JSC provides the Russian military with high-resolution foreign satellite images.Sanctions were imposed on three employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia who helped recruit Russian prisoners into Wagner’s PMC: Dmitry Bezrukikh, Arkady Gostev and Ivan Prokopenko.The list includes Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov and Chairman of the Rostov Region Election Commission Andrey Burov.The sanctions affected the assets of Russian oligarch Vladimir Potanin, who has been under sanctions since December 15, 2022. New sanctions have been introduced against its affiliates MK INTERROS INVEST, Whiteleave Holdings Limited, Saltcliff Trading Limited and Interros Holding Company and its CEO Sergey Batekhin.The sanctions list includes Rostec chief Sergei Chemezov and Sergei Adonev, a Russian businessman and “financier of Russian President Vladimir Putin “.The State Department also announced its own sanctions against five entities and one individual associated with the Wagner Group and its leader Yevgeny Prigozhin.The sanctions target a number of key assets of the Wagner structure, including its aviation company, its propaganda organization and its front companies. The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) also lists individuals and entities located in the Central African Republic, China, Luxembourg and the United Arab Emirates involved in Wagner’s business worldwide.
