UN Secretary General António Guterres is confronted with the West’s unconstructive stance on the Russian side of the grain deal, which includes reconnecting Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT system. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“Despite all the efforts of the United Nations, Mr. Guterres, he is confronted with the unconstructive position of some Westerners. It really complicates this process, complicates the implementation of the Russian part of the Black Sea Initiative. Nevertheless, contacts are continuing, as the agreement has been extended for two months, but it is quite a short period, it will be concluded quite quickly,” Peskov told reporters.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry called the conditions under which the grain agreement could be terminated. Russian diplomats recalled five problematic issues on which there is still no progress – if they are not resolved in two months, the agreement will cease to exist.
