there is no “magic wand” that could help Ukraine

There is no “magic wand” that could help Ukraine in its fight against Russia, the British defense minister said, answering a question about the possibility of supplying Kiev with British fighters.

Wallace did not rule out the possibility of supplying fighters, but said that was not what Ukraine needed at the moment.

In addition, he said, there are practical issues to consider, including how long it will take to train the Ukrainian military to use them.

“There is no magic wand that can help in this terrible conflict,” Wallace told reporters, speaking in Portsmouth, southern England, where the naval base is located.

He spoke at a joint press conference between British and Australian defense and foreign ministers following a meeting on trade and security issues.
