The Polish Foreign Ministry on Wednesday summoned a Belarusian charge d’affaires after a Polish-born journalist in Belarus was sentenced to eight years in prison in a case Warsaw says is politically motivated.
This was announced by a representative of the Polish Foreign Ministry.
Andrzej Poczobut was found guilty of “inciting hatred against religious and national groups and rehabilitating Nazism” after his arrest in March 2021, Polish news agency PAP reported.
“Today’s politically motivated show trial and verdict are clear evidence of the Belarusian authorities’ anti-Polish actions,” the Polish Foreign Ministry said in a statement. “We condemn the unfair verdict handed down by the court of an authoritarian state.”
Remember that thousands of people of Polish origin live in Belarus.
