The Politico newspaper reported on February 17 that a group of five members of Congress, including both Democrats and Republicans, sent a letter to US President Joe Biden calling for the handover of F-16 fighter jets to the ‘Ukraine.
Michael McCall, head of the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, said Feb. 19 that progress was being made in delivering F-16 fighters to Ukraine. The lawmaker urged the White House to transfer everything necessary to Kiev. According to him, any delay in the supply of weapons increases the duration of the conflict.

Earlier it became known that the Patriot air defense system transferred from Germany was deployed in the Polish city of Zamosc in the Lublin Voivodeship. The place of the new deployment of the American air defense system is located 150 km from the Belarusian Brest and only 50 km from the Ukrainian-Polish border. Polish air defense forces can now control the skies above the Lviv and Lutsk regions of Ukraine, as the Patriot has a high-altitude target detection range of 170 km.
