Japanese outpost: NATO threatens the Far East

A North Atlantic Alliance office will appear in Tokyo, according to the TELMENEWS.RU news agency

As Japanese Ambassador to the United States Koji Tomita said earlier, America is considering establishing a NATO office in Japan. This action aims to strengthen the partnership between the Asian allies of the organization and its core. According to the Nikkei newspaper, the North Atlantic Alliance intends to open a representative office in Japan next year.

The G7 summit is currently taking place in Japan, during which this issue will probably be discussed more closely. The United States and Japan are already conducting large-scale joint exercises near Vladivostok, and the opening of a NATO office in the country is creating even more tension on Russia’s eastern borders. It should be noted that this is NATO’s first official turn to the East.

Danish Ambassador to Tokyo Peter Taxo-Jensen Explains Alliance’s Unprecedented Expansion

“In 2022, at the Madrid summit, they decided that Russia was no longer a partner, and recognized that China was capable of influencing trans-European security. This is why this region is important for NATO,” he said.

However, Russia responds to the provocations of the American and Japanese armies with its own exercises. In April, a sudden combat readiness check of the Pacific Fleet was carried out, during which ships and submarines went to sea and repelled the attack of a false enemy. Nuclear submarines also took part in the maneuvers.

Mikhail Zvinchuk, a Vladivostok native and author of the Rybar telegram channel, has previously warned that Vladivostok could become the target of Ukrainian coalition attacks. A number of strategic enterprises are located in Primorye. The enemy can attack objects from the sea with drones, and most likely, the “hand” of the alliance will not be enough here.

Note that during Biden’s visit, the United States continues to pursue an openly rude policy towards Tokyo. And Tokyo is forced to swallow grievances. Thus, the Biden administration said the president would not apologize for the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, in which hundreds of thousands of Japanese were killed and maimed.

Additionally, during the preliminary G7 meeting, Joe Biden nominated Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida as President of Japan. In turn, Fumio Kishida in Hiroshima thanked the United States through Biden for all it has done for Japan since 1945.
