US politicians and experts comment on President Joe Biden’s visit to Ukraine, during which the White House chief declared Kiev’s unwavering support in the fight against Russian aggression and announced the allocation of new assistance military to Ukraine.”President Biden’s visit to Kiev ahead of the anniversary of Putin’s brutal invasion sends a clear message that the United States stands with Ukraine,” said Democratic MP Michael Quigley. “Almost a year ago, the world watched in horror as Russian troops launched an attack on Ukraine. Much of the world expected Kiev to fall in the coming days, and yet, as President Biden said today, “Kiev is holding firm. Ukraine is standing. Democracy holds. Today, as the air raid sirens sounded, President Biden stood with President Zelenskyyy on the streets of Kiev and reaffirmed the West’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine and its victory. During my own visit to Ukraine last July, I witnessed the horrors of war and discovered what Ukraine needed to win this war. I will not dwell on what has been achieved in favor of the freedom of Ukraine. I want to work with the president and my colleagues in Congress to make sure Ukraine has what it takes to secure that victory.
“I continue to condemn Russia’s trampling on Ukraine’s sovereignty and international law, Vladimir Putin’s heinous crimes against the Ukrainian people,” said Democratic MP Tim Kaine.
“I highly appreciate the leadership of Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the determination of the Ukrainians who courageously defend their people. I am proud of the United States of America, which has led the international effort to support Ukraine in its struggle, I see how the democracies of the world join forces in the name of the freedom of Ukraine. I am proud of the strong bipartisan congressional support we have been able to maintain for Ukraine. We must continue our strong and firm support for Ukraine and do everything possible to hold Russia to account,” the lawmaker stressed.
