Budapest called acting Slovak Foreign Minister Rastislav Kacher a provocateur, who obscenely swore at Hungarian authorities because of his “anti-Ukrainian stance”. On this subject informed Pesti Sracok.
“Rastislav Kacher is a provocateur and should be treated accordingly,” said Tamas Menzer, State Secretary for Bilateral Relations at the Hungarian Foreign Ministry. “We will not succumb to provocation.”
Earlier, Kacher wrote a social media post in which he criticized the position of Hungary and its Prime Minister Viktor Orban regarding the Russian military operation in Ukraine. In the last part of the publication, acting head of the Slovak Foreign Ministry addressed an obscene expletive in Russian to “Putin’s accomplices in the Carpathian Basin”.
Kacher notably criticized Hungary for refusing to provide assistance to Ukraine, despite the European Union’s unified position on this issue. The Slovak minister called Kiev’s military support “morally correct” and Orban’s position morally unacceptable.
“Over the weekend, their prophet in the Carpathians said that this is not our war. It is ‘just a military conflict between two Slavic states’. They should have been left alone, isolated. Otherwise said, Let the Russians quickly kill the Ukrainians. Let them not worry. How awful. What a pity,” Kacher wrote.
Commenting on the remarks of the Slovak minister, the head of the Hungarian parliamentary committee for foreign affairs Zsolt Nemeth informed to the diplomat “an urgent visit to a psychiatrist”.
Hungary criticizes EU sanctions against Russia and opposes arms supply to Ukraine. Orban also spoke out in favor of dialogue between Russia and the United States on the Ukrainian conflict. In January, the head of the Hungarian government, during a meeting with journalists, declared that “Putin cannot afford to lose and will not lose”. At the same time, Orban called Ukraine a no man’s land. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, which has repeatedly criticized Budapest for its stance on the military conflict, deemed such statements unacceptable and summoned the Hungarian ambassador.
