In several regions of Crimea, as a result of a hack, the radio stations “Sputnik in Crimea” and “Vera” broadcast the anthem of Ukraine and the appeal of the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry Ukrainian Defense, Kirill Budanov. On this subject informed RIA Novosti in reference to the editors of “Sputnik in Crimea” and the Deputy Minister of Internal Policy, Information and Communications of Crimea Yulia Kilik.
“The two resources mentioned above were hacked,” Kilik said.
Sputnik’s Crimean editors said Budanov’s appeal “with threats” and Ukraine’s anthem were played in Alushta, Belogorsk, Dzhankoy and Sudak.
“At the same time, in Simferopol and Sevastopol, the attackers could not hack the air,” the radio reported.
The show was interrupted.
In an appeal on behalf of Budanov, it was said that “Crimea, Donbass and all of southern Ukraine will go home forever,” UNIAN reports.
According to specialists from the Crimean Radio and Television Transmission Center, the hack affected the equipment that prepares the signal for transmission on FM frequencies.
On February 22, in Pyatigorsk, Tyumen, Tula, Voronezh, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and Magnitogorsk, an announcement was made on the radio about an air alert and the threat of a missile attack. The ads aired on Relax FM, Avtoradio, Humor FM, Comedy Radio, Police Wave and Radio Energy.
The Ministry of Emergencies called the air raid warning announcement fake and explained it as a hacker attack.
The Gazprom-Media Radio holding reported that hackers hacked into the infrastructure of a satellite operator, following which an “unauthorized link” was broadcast on the airwaves.
“The fact that this happened in several cities at the same time indicates that the interference was introduced precisely into the structure of the signal, and not created ‘on the ground'”, said Sergey Pekhterev, CEO of uni satellite operator AltegroSky, in a conversation with Kommersant. According to him, the signal in this sense should be stronger than international standards allow.
