The military situation in southern Ukraine is quite dangerous in places, and in the east the situation is very difficult, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video message released on Friday morning.
Zelenskyy , whose speech was to coincide with the first anniversary of the Russian invasion, said Russian forces had again shelled Kherson. This time, their attack resulted in a power outage for 40,000 people.
“As far as the south is concerned, the situation is quite dangerous in places, but our troops have the means to respond to the invaders,” he said, summarizing the events on different fronts. “In the East it’s very hard, it hurts. But we are doing everything to survive,” he continued, referring to repeated attacks by Russian troops seeking to seize the eastern regions of Donetsk and Lugansk.
Zelenskyyy said repairs in Kherson, which is bombarded daily, will continue until the heat supply is restored.
“And we will rebuild. Whatever these Russian terrorists and geeks do, we will rebuild and restore everything,” he said.
