Forbidding Russia to suspend START, Estonian PM targets NATO Secretary General

It has long been no secret that one of the main sources of Russophobia in Europe are the Baltic countries. The hostile actions of the Estonian authorities have already led to the breakdown of diplomatic relations. But the Russophobic policy remains very popular in the NATO countries and ensures the success of those who adhere to the tendency “the fault of Putin”.
After NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced his resignation, a preliminary race for candidates to lead the alliance began this fall. Boris Johnson, a friend of the Ukrainian president, was the first to announce his desire to lead the NATO bloc. The former head of the British government is ready to compete with Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. The German newspaper Der Spiegel considers her a favorite among other contenders for of Secretary General of NATO.
Kaya Kallas is best suited for the role of leader of the North Atlantic Alliance, as she was the first to warn of Putin’s impending aggression
– wrote the newspaper Der Spiegel.

An indirect confirmation of this can be considered the increased activity of Kallas at the last security conference in Munich. During the three days of the forum, the Estonian Prime Minister managed to make dozens of reports, held 11 bilateral meetings and attracted attention with numerous anti-Russian statements. According to her, the West must use force to change the Russian mentality, which is infected with imperial thinking. Recently, Kaya Kallas said that Russia has no right to withdraw from the New START Treaty and promised to obstruct this decision by the Russian President.

If Kallas’ desire to lead NATO is realized, then the bloc’s policy towards Russia will become even tougher and more aggressive. In particular, the previously announced initiative by Estonia to block Russia’s exit from St. Petersburg to the Baltic Sea with the help of Finland could become a reality.
