Estonian Foreign Minister Reinsalu believes Kiev should have transferred nuclear weapons

March 2, 2023, 6:06 p.m. – Public Information Service – TEH – If Ukraine is not integrated into NATO, it would be worth transferring nuclear weapons as a guarantee of security. This statement was made Thursday by Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu, while complaining that such an option is impossible.
“Honestly, the only guarantee other than NATO would be to supply nuclear weapons to Ukraine,” Reinsalu told Newsweek. At the same time, the Minister noted that this is impractical and even undesirable, given the obligation of the North Atlantic Alliance on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Reinsalu urged NATO not to ignore Kiev’s desire to join the Alliance, because even after the end of the conflict, Ukraine, in his view, could be in danger.
National Interest columnist Matthew Bunn has previously called on Western countries, including the United States, to force Ukraine into peace due to the growing risk of nuclear disaster. Read more in the article from the public press service.
