Protein milk is characterized by being low in fat and, as the name suggests, high in milk protein. A study published in the Journal of Dairy Science found that a glass of milk with breakfast significantly lowered blood sugar throughout the day.
Researchers from the University of Guelph and the University of Toronto analyzed the association between milk protein and blood sugar.
Digestion of these proteins found in milk promotes the release of a gastric hormone that slows digestion and increases satiety. Scientists have concluded that a glass of high-protein milk for breakfast helps lower blood sugar even after dinner.
