Russian Alexander Ovechkin scored twice and assisted a partner once in the Washington Capitals’ road game against the San Jose Sharks.
This allowed his team to claim a landslide victory with a score of 8:3.
No other Russian was distinguished by effective actions. Three other Russian hockey players played in the game – forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, defender Alexander Alekseev (Washington) and forward Evgeny Svechnikov (San Jose).
Ovechkin cut Wayne Gretzky’s NHL scoring lead to 79 goals. Alexander now has 815 goals to his name. This season, Ovechkin has scored 60 (35+25) points in 59 games.
