Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Biden backs Ukraine, but Trump says, ‘Putin would never have invaded Ukraine if he were in the White House’

United States President Joe Biden will try to convince President-elect Donald Trump not to pull support from Ukraine when he takes office, the outgoing president’s national security adviser has said, according to Al-Jazeera.

“President Biden will have the opportunity over the next 70 days to make the case to the Congress and to the incoming administration that the United States should not walk away from Ukraine, that walking away from Ukraine means more instability in Europe,”

– Sullivan said.

“I’m not here to put forward a specific legislative proposal. President Biden will make the case that we do need ongoing resources for Ukraine beyond the end of his term,” Sullivan said, according to TVPworld.

Washington has sent tens of billions of dollars in military and economic aid to Ukraine since February 2022, a special military operation in Ukraine, a policy Trump has sharply condemned, siding with other Republican lawmakers against it.

Trump said Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, “would never have invaded Ukraine if he were in the White House.” And, he told Reuters that Ukraine might have to agree to lose some territory in any peace settlement idea Ukrainians have rejected and that Biden has never suggested.

Trump, who has railed for years against NATO members that failed to meet agreed military spending targets, warned during the campaign that he would not only refuse to defend nations “delinquent” on funding but would encourage Russia “to do whatever the hell they want” to them according to Reuters.
