MOSCOW — Russian air defenses destroyed one drone over the Voronezh Region overnight, Governor Alexander Gusev said on Sunday, November 8, with no casualties or damage reported in his preliminary assessment.

In a November 8 dispatch, RIA Novosti quoted Gusev’s update: “Last night, an unmanned aerial vehicle was detected and destroyed in the sky over one of the districts of the Voronezh Region.”

The governor did not name the district or identify the aircraft’s type or intended target in the quoted statement.

Separately, the Russian Defense Ministry said air defenses intercepted and destroyed 142 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions and the Sea of Azov overnight, TASS reported on November 8. Its statement listed the Voronezh Region among the affected areas but did not give a regional breakdown.

The ministry’s 142-drone figure is a nationwide account, not a Voronezh-only total. Gusev’s quoted update described one aircraft and did not identify its origin. The preliminary report of no casualties or damage relates to his regional update, not every area covered by the ministry’s statement.
