A source for People says there’s nothing wrong with Jada Pinkett Smith’s feud with comedian Chris Rock. It comes after Chris Rock said on his latest stand-up show (such as a special) that Jada called him out for making fun of her at the Oscars last year.

As most people remember, the joke, where Chris Rock made fun of Jada for being bald, prompted Jada’s husband, Will Smith, to come on stage and slap him.
Chris said during his stand-up over the weekend that Jada told him he shouldn’t be a presenter at the 2016 Oscars because her husband wasn’t nominated. With this, Jada actually called the famous joke on himself.
“I made a few jokes about her. Who cares? Here’s how it works: she’s busy and I’m wrapping up,” Rock said. “That’s exactly what happened. No one is harassing that female dog. She was busy. No one was teasing her.”
A People source believed to be close to Jada said there was no merit in the actress trying to convince Chris to stop hosting the Oscars in the past. In fact, it was Chris Rock who really had Jada in mind.
“Chris has it on his brain and it’s been going on for almost thirty years. Just look at where he decided to record his stand-up act, in his hometown of Baltimore. He’s obsessed.”
Chris probably just decided to take it his own way when Jada called for an Oscar boycott in 2016 because there were so few black nominations, but Jada started a movement under the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.
“She never asked Chris not to be a presenter at the festival. She said publicly on Facebook at the time that Chris would be a great presenter and perfect for the job.”
The source also expressed surprise at the number of times Chris called Jada a bitch during her stand-up.
Nonetheless, Jada isn’t fazed by these stand-up clichés. For the future, she is focusing on a book she will publish later this year.
