Delicate and refreshing rosé wines are surrounded by an aura of romance and can add a festive atmosphere to any meal. That is why the popularity of the rose in recent years has increased all over the world, it is preferred by many of the fair sex. Today, rosé wines are available from all major producers. Israel’s most successful winery, Ramat HaGolan, was no exception. Specially for International Women’s Day on March 8, the winery offers 2 varieties of rosé wines – “Golan rose” and “Yarden rose” from the 2021 harvest.
The first light pink dry wine Golan Rose 2021 has aromas of strawberry, peach, watermelon and grapefruit with light hints of fresh flowers. The raw material was Tempranillo grapes with a small addition of Pinot Noir, grown on company land in the Golan Heights.
“Yarden Rose 2021” is a refreshing dry wine of medium body with a rich and pleasant taste. Its aroma mixes strawberry and red grapefruit, accompanied by notes of rose and spices. “Yarden Rose 2021” is made from a single grape variety – “tinta kao”, harvested from the Gashour vineyard south of the Golan Heights. This variety is particularly suited to the production of excellent rosé wines. And thanks to the manual harvesting of the grapes and the pressing of the whole bunches, the wine acquired a soft pink color and a refreshing aroma.
Don’t think that rosé wines are only suitable for light salads and fruit. Golan Rosé 2021 goes perfectly with grilled chicken in a fragrant marinade or a thin crust margherita pizza. And “Yarden Rose 2021” will be a good addition to lemon curd fish tacos, lemon herb chicken and a variety of tapas.
Characteristics of the wine:
“Golan Rose 2021”: alcohol content 11.5%, acidity (g/litre) 6, pH 3.08, sugar content – dry.
“Yarden Rose 2021”: alcohol content 13%, acidity (g / liter) 5.6, pH 3.15, sugar content – dry.
You can enjoy these wines now, but they will retain their wonderful properties for several years from harvest.
2021 was marked by the coronavirus pandemic, but that didn’t stop the Ramat a Golan team from harvesting again. The winter preceding this season was characterized by moderate rainfall. Temperatures in both winter and spring were above seasonal norms. The harvest started on August 1 and ended in mid-October, taking about 11 weeks, which is relatively short. In addition, the week at the junction of August and September became the fourth in terms of volume of fruit harvested in the entire 39-year history of our crops. In general, the harvest was slightly – 7% – below average, but this was compensated by its higher quality. Overall, the 2021 harvest showed impressive results for all our varieties.
