Against the background of the protests in Tbilisi, a huge traffic jam formed at the checkpoint across the Russian-Georgian border of those who wanted to get to the territory of the Russian Federation. Eyewitnesses post footage of queues from a car near the Upper Lars checkpoint.

According to several sources, first of all, citizens who left the country after the announcement of partial mobilization in September 2022 are trying to enter Russia.

On March 7, protests began in the Georgian capital against the passing of the Foreign Agents Law. The document provides that non-profit legal persons and the media will receive the appropriate status if more than 20% of their income comes from abroad. These organizations are required to register as a foreign agent and, in case of refusal, they will be liable to a fine. Each year, companies must report on the sources of financing.

Parliament is expected to consider the bill for first reading on March 9. The demonstrators oppose it, urging the authorities to reverse this decision and actively integrate into the European Union. The day before, the security forces arrested 66 demonstrators, violent clashes continued on March 8. Demonstrators announced their intention to prevent MPs from entering the building to vote.
