Qatar Fund for Development signed a cooperation agreement with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to support the Committee’s economic security program / ECOSEC / in Libya, with the aim of responding to the emergency needs of those affected by the Libyan crisis, on the sidelines of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries. His Excellency Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, General Manager of the Fund, said:" Through our cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, we will be able to respond urgently and meet the needs of those affected by the Libyan crisis.". His Excellency indicated that the joint program will contribute to supporting the peace process by securing basic needs, enhancing the resilience of people and ensuring self-sufficiency for themselves and their families. For her part, HE President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mirjana Spoleric Iger expressed her happiness with the Qatar Fund for Development’s support for projects aimed at helping families affected by the conflict in Libya to secure their basic needs. Qatar Fund for Development also signed a cooperation agreement with the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University, with the aim of enhancing the quality of education in business schools in a number of African countries. His Excellency Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, Director General of Qatar Fund for Development, said:"We are pleased to support the growth of education to provide students with the knowledge and abilities that will enable them to participate fully in society in the future". His Excellency Dr. Hassan Al-Derham, President of Qatar University, stressed that the support and development of business administration schools in developing countries comes within the framework of the university’s endeavor to maximize its international impact and support for the goals of sustainable development. Prof. Rana Sobh, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University, said:" The college will harness its experience to contribute to the improvement of education in 5 African business schools (College of Management Studies at the University of Khartoum in Sudan, College of Management and Economics at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia, College of Business Administration at the University of Nairobi in Kenya, College of Business and Public Administration at the University of Gambia in Gambia, and College Business and Public Administration University of Liberia in Liberia). She pointed out that cooperation is concentrated in three areas: developing academic curricula, enhancing research capacity, and facilitating strategic management.
